Experience what it's like to ride a bike!
Cycling is a great way to stay active and, in addition, people over 60 stay healthy, social and self-reliant for longer, partly through cycling. That is why AmstelveenSport organizes various cycling activities, from the 4-day cycling event to cycling lessons for adults.
From Monday, May 18 to Thursday, May 21, AmstelveenSport, together with Doortrappen, Fietsmaatjes, and Stichting Bovenkerk, is organizing the Fiets4Daagse: an accessible cycling event for all cycling enthusiasts.
Starting location:
North Dam Center
Noorddammerweg 1, Amstelveen (Bovenkerk)
Departure: 09:30 am
Cycling groups of 20 and 30 kilometers
Free participation – registration is not required
What can you expect?
Every morning you can choose from two beautiful routes of 20 or 30 kilometers through Amstelveen and the green surroundings. The tours are guided by experienced volunteers of Doortrappen. Afterwards there is room for a cozy coffee moment with coffee, tea and apple pie for a special Fiets4Daagse price at the Noorddamcentrum.
The Fiets4Daagse is aimed at seniors (55+), but everyone who likes to cycle is welcome. Even if you can no longer cycle independently, we think along with you: Fietsmaatjes offers support so that you can participate too.
Join us
Cycling is healthy, sociable, and gives freedom. With this Fiets4Daagse, we bring people together and ensure that everyone – young or old, fit or less mobile – can experience the joy of cycling. With the support of Doortrappen (continuing to cycle safely and with confidence) and Fietsmaatjes (making cycling together possible for everyone), we will make it four wonderful mornings.
Come along, get on your bike and join in. No need to sign up – you are welcome on the day itself.
Our partner Doortrappen is organizing a bike tour every week from Thursday, May 28 to Thursday, September 17.
Every Thursday morning, the cycling groups depart from the Noorddamcentrum at 9:30 AM to ride a beautiful route in or around Amstelveen. Along the way, you can enjoy the surroundings, nature, and camaraderie together.
There are various groups all cycling the day's route at a leisurely pace. The distances vary from 20 to 30 kilometers. Everyone is welcome: cycling on a regular bike, e-bike, tandem, or duo bike.
On April 15, Participe in collaboration with Doortrappen Amstelveen and AmstelveenSport organizes a Bike Tour from Wijkcentrum De Bolder. The tour goes from community center to community center. There will be a stop at each community center. The route is approximately 15 km long. The Bike Tour will be from 10:00 to 13:00.
Discover Amstelveen safely with the Wijkcentrum Fietstour. We enjoy the beautiful surroundings and improve our cycling fitness with fun exercises along the way. And that's not all, test your knowledge during our interactive quiz and get a chance to win fantastic prizes.

They have also listed a number of cycling exercises to help you learn to cycle safely: www.anwb.nl/fiets/veiligheid/leren-fietsen-oefeningen
