Swimming with dementia
Swimming is very pleasant for people with early dementia. The warm water calms down and movement feels good.
People with dementia have more problems than with memory alone. They often have difficulty moving. They suffer from balance problems and sometimes poor vision. Still, it is good to keep moving with these people. Swimming or walking in warm water can contribute to a sense of well-being. In addition, moving is safer in the water, because the movements in the water are slowed down. This means there is more time to respond. Mentally, more exercise gives confidence. Research has also shown that exercise in warm water is good for the blood circulation in the brain.
Every Friday from 11am to 12pm.
