Healthy Youth Healthy Future (JOGG)

JOGG stands for a healthy youth, healthy future and is committed to an environment in which healthy choices for children are self-evident. Schools play a crucial role in this. Six basic principles are being worked on: drinking water, more exercise, healthy eating, better sleep, media literacy and mental health.

Offer JOGG Amstelveen

The Healthy Guest Lecture
The Healthy Guest Lessons will start at schools in September. The Healthy Guest Lesson is an interactive lesson for primary school children from group 7. During the lesson, children discuss topics that contribute to a healthy living environment. Think of drinking water, healthy eating, more exercise, better sleep, media literacy and mental health. These topics are packaged in a quiz, drinking game and exercise activity.

Supermarket safari
The Supermarket Safari is part of the NME curriculum and is offered as an external lesson by JOGG to primary schools in Amstelveen. Pupils from group 8 learn how to read nutrition labels and compare products. This way they make conscious choices and discover what is really healthy.

Toddler 4 Days
The Peuter4daagse is a national initiative in which toddlers, together with their pedagogical staff, walk for at least 15 minutes a day or complete an exercise course for four days. They do this in the vicinity of their childcare or playgroup. The goal is to introduce young children to exercise and walking in a playful way. JOGG Amstelveen encourages and supports childcare organizations to participate in the Peuter4Daagse.

Multisport Plus
Multisport Plus is a sports lesson for children aged 8 to 16 who are overweight. The aim of the lesson is to get the children moving more motorically. During the lessons, the children are introduced to various sports. The sports are offered in game forms and introductory clinics at local sports clubs.

Break sports
Fun and varied activities during school breaks encourage movement and promote concentration and learning performance.

Water bike
Groups 3, 4, and 5 discover healthy drink choices through play by tasting fruit water and a short quiz.

'A healthier living environment for all children'

JOGG works together with a network of municipalities, social organizations and companies on a healthier living environment for youth and appropriate support and care for children with overweight and obesity. A healthy future is only possible if we structurally focus on both an environment in which it is easy to make healthy choices, and on individual help in removing obstacles that stand in the way of a healthy lifestyle.

Healthy youth, healthy future

Together we make healthy normal

During their youth, children and young people learn what normal behavior is. And that also applies to a healthy lifestyle. Children and young people who grow up in a healthy environment and with a healthy lifestyle find this completely normal for the rest of their lives.
Together with our partners we strive for a society in which young people live, learn and play in a healthy environment with structural attention to a healthy lifestyle. An environment in which the healthy choice is self-evident.

Read here how we do that: amstelveensport.nl/jogg/doet

JOGG is committed to this in six themes:

Drink water

Move more

Healthy eating

Better sleep

Media literacy

Mental health

Since September 2023, Amstelveen has been active as a JOGG municipality. In order to grow up healthily, children need a healthy living environment. Parents, schools, childcare, the neighborhood and the sports club play an important role in this.

From JOGG Amstelveen we guide and support organizations in focusing on the JOGG themes of drinking water, healthy nutrition, more exercise, better sleep and media literacy.

Kick off Amstelveen JOGG municipality

Together with mayor Tjapko Poppens, Sven Kuit, our JOGG director (Healthy Youth, Healthy Future) received the place name sign: 'Amstelveen, JOGG municipality' from JOGG ambassador Patrick Rijnbeek to loud cheers from children from Primary school De Westwijzer. Or was it because of the piece of fruit they got from the mayor. Either way: Amstelveen is now officially a JOGG municipality. Offering children a healthy living environment, that's what it's all about. This is done by encouraging good habits, such as more exercise, healthy eating and drinking more water.
