As of 1 July 2021, a deposit will be charged on small plastic bottles of soft drinks and water. Sports clubs are given the opportunity by Deposit Money Netherlands to collect these bottles voluntarily and to keep the deposit money for their own club. A chance of extra income for the club.
A new deposit system will come into effect on 1 July 2021. From that moment on, a deposit of € 0.15 will be levied on small plastic bottles of soft drinks and water. As the volume increases, there will be more intake points for the small and large bottles. Larger supermarkets, manned petrol stations along the motorway, manned train stations and larger caterers will soon be obliged to accept returnable bottles. Other plastic bottle outlets may choose to voluntarily collect plastic bottles. In total, this concerns 61,000 possible locations. Think of sports clubs, amusement parks, catering companies, fast food chains and cinemas.
Sports clubs are given the opportunity to collect plastic bottles voluntarily and to keep the deposit for their own club through a scheme of Deposit Money Netherlands. They facilitate the entire process and collection bags and bins are made available free of charge.
